Community Garden at College of the Ouachitas
College of the Ouachitas will host speaker Robin D. Bridges on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 12 - 1 p.m. in the Great Room (A300) about the possibilities of starting a community garden on campus.
Robin D. Bridges is the County Extension Agent (Agriculture and Natural Resources)/Staff Chair of Union County, Arkansas. He has been a county agent for 28 years, the first 25 years were at the LSU Ag Center in Louisiana. Robin has dedicated his life’s work to educating people in the hope that it would improve their quality of life. He will share with the College and community about the successful community gardens in Union County, as well as ways to start and sustain a community garden, the roles and responsibilities, and the different types of community gardens. The College invites everyone who might be interested in starting a community garden to attend.
Robin has been married 30 years to the same patient woman, Gail, who teaches gifted and talented youth. They have two grown children, Tony, who is a Research Associate with LSU Ag Center in Baton Rouge and Katy, an Extension County Agent in Tennessee.
Robin says, "Teach a man or woman to fish, feed them for a lifetime. Gardening provides the fruit and veggies to balance that diet. Life is service – the good communities are filled with people who have this belief."
