TRiO Extra-Help Ambassador/Receptionist and Peer Tutors

College of the Ouachitas (COTO) is seeking extra-help Ambassadors/Receptionists, and Peer Tutors for TRiO Student Support Services. TRiO Student Support Services is a federally-funded program for students who are first- generation, low-income, and/or disabled. Candidates must be currently enrolled at COTO.

The SSS Ambassador/Receptionist is primarily responsible for:

  • Proficiency with computers required; competency in Microsoft Office preferred
  • Communicate effectively and ability to represent the TRiO program in various student involvement areas, i.e. workshops, SGA, committees
  • Knows basic office procedures and operates common office equipment and machines required
  • Demonstrate maturity and promptness
  • Background similar to students/experience with disadvantaged students/ TRiO preferred

The SSS Peer Tutor is responsible for:

  • Obtain recommendation of instructor of subject tutored
  • Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better or an “A” or “B” in subject tutored
  • Computer/software competencies preferred
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrate maturity and promptness
  • Attend tutor and job training workshops
